I love this part of the film where the children play in the garden. All it needs are some white roses in the beds to send me over the top. Iceberg would be lovely but maybe PJPII would grow nicely in Rome as well. A wonderful climber would be great on the walls. Do you ever see perfect gardens and think about what you would add if it was yours? The link was removed because the video can no longer be seen on the site. The part that I am writing about is from the film The Great Beauty where the main character looks down from his elegant roof top into a formal garden below and sees children playing with a nun. A tiny bit of this appears in a trailer for the film.

Oh Yes, lots of white and only the palest of pink roses. The landscape company up the road from me has incredible strange shaped trees that look like the Art Deco '20s gardens, (the price of just one 5 ft tree was 800 dollars) Let's put in a whole slew of 'em. What about a few Madame Alfred nodding their heads looking down at visitors, add some bittersweet classical music, and one single heart stealing Francis Dubreuil . i thought it would be perfect with my dog playing fetch, but he doesn't fetch anything, and he would water all the prize bushes. Sorry, I forgot this is wishing , not reality. Well i imagine everyone would want whatever they can't have- I'd like to be one of the children, and our dog would be a young pup again... I'm going to go think about this while I'm doing the dishes. Thanks for the beautiful thought.

I think a big Madame Alfred C would look lovely there! Also the beautiful Devoniensis that Jeri puts the picture up of sometimes. It could be an eternal garden where no rose ever dies. The sister watching the children is a sweet kind of rose too.

Yes, roses would have been nice but renaissance gardens don't have any roses today although there were flowers in these gardens when they were new. But far worse is a film where the garden is really awful as the roof garden in the romantic fantasy Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon. The design is cheesy and I am sure all the roses were plastic.
