And a few oldies, but was surprised to find Deja Blu. They're all chopped-roots in peat pots or body bags but look good & the ones I picked up last year did fine. $11. Starting to snoop around HEB--they had their ogrs out early last Jan.--Mrs. Dudley Cross, Mutabilis, Caldwell Pink, Pinkie, Duchesse de Brabant, Spice, Souvenir del la Malmaison. They put out a few each week, & when you pick them up early & get them planted they make fine plants

bluegirl, which Lowe's did you go to? I thought Texas was going through a cold snap now. Is now the right time to plant a bare-root rose if it's 30 degrees at night?

I'm nw of SA. We had overnight lows of 20, 16 & 24 but they were only overnight--it warmed up during the days. Winter through early spring is the ideal time for bare-roots in my zone. They're supposed to be dormant so the cold doesn't bother them. Even the baby plants I have in 2 gallon pots did fine with no cover. And most of them still have a few leaves. It's a bit unusual for many roses here to really go dormant. The teas, Chinas & noisettes are still full of leaves. I planted several bare roots from Pickerings last month--2 in the ground, one in a pot. They look good--healthy buds all along the canes.

The local Lowe's here around Los Angeles are selling Eyes on Me (Raspberry Kiss) from Certified Roses also in the pulp pots. They're budded (probably virused considering how the other Certified Rose plants I've ever bought), but all in all, it is a pretty good looking plant for $9.98 in a pulp pot. Kim

I saw them at Lowes Kim. But forgot it had a different name. LOL. Guess that is what happens at the end of a long day with little sleep
