This weekend the weather was PERFECT for gardening. Valentine's Day is usually the day that pruning is done here in Texas, and it seems Ma Nature practically swung her doors open for us. I'm not sure if winter is truly over but the animals seem to have thought so since the birds were out and we even saw a grasshopper. So Ogrose, her husband, myself, and a friend I brought along that is learning about roses spent the beautiful afternoon snipping away at bushes. At one point I found myself underneath the eaves of a gorgeous, fountain snapped Cl. Pinkie looking up through the dappled sunlight at the clear skies and thinking, "Man, nothing beats this." We got some great work done! I might've even gotten a bit of a sunburn! Lol! Altogether 6 grand OGR and one clematis got a detailed cleanup, trim, and attention. I'm so blessed to have meant Ogrose and become her friend. I meant to snap a picture of her and I together, but alas I was so busy I completely forgot. So instead I've included a picture of an Oxalis that is blooming inside right now. Josh

Sounds like a great day. We, too, are warm and sunny today after wet and cold periods (for us here in central Florida). Two cousins are coming at the end of the month from Davenport and near Minneapolis. It's nice to think of being able to provide some relief for them. Not able to get in the garden because other parts of life are taking up that time. But soon...

Sounds like the perfect day. Here in KY> we have quite a while to wait for pruning time. It always excites me when the time arrives....it means blooms come soon! Lesley

Josh, there's nothing like an old rose buddy, "old" referring the rose, of course! :-) I'm so happy you and OGRose connected and that you have a novice friend joining you all (all ya'll). TX sure produces a lot of antique rose lovers. Carol

Sounds like a great day. I've been pruning every time the weather permits, which hasn't been too often (a day of sun, a week of rain, or at least that's what it feels like), and got started early this year on the warm climate roses. Yesterday I was chipping away at 'Archduke Joseph' and other teas, enjoying their elegant fresh leaves and over the top growth. Pruning is so much fun. So is having a garden friend. Sun is wonderful too, when it arrives when winter is on the way out. I'm glad you had such a good time! Melissa
