Hey everyone!

Does anybody grow either of these HPs? I would probably never try them here in Santa Monica, but I just saw pictures of these roses for the first time and looked up what I could. Just gorgeous!

It seems BR is a bit larger and lankier than MdL? I think I saw that Ingrid was one of the posters of a shot of MdL on HMF. Can you speak on this rose? Any information on them would be appreciated.

Jay

Hi Jay,

There is another Ingrid who has photographs on HMF and it must be she since I've never had this rose. I don't bother with HP's since they don't do well in my hot, dry situation, and for the most part are not terrific rebloomers (except for Grandmother's Hat). They're also more prone to disease and generally have rather unsightly bushes. Teas, some Austins, polyanthas, a few Chinas, short Bourbons and early hybrid teas seem to do best for me.

Ha, I see! Thanks for clearing that up Ingrid.

Reve d'Or is next in line here, but I'm always interested in knowing more about any rose that really catches me eye. These two most certainly qualify even if they'll never see the soil here. I've driven myself half mad with all the time I've spent reading up on Madame Hardy and Blanchefleur which will never see the light of day in Santa Monica.
