I would highly recommend mystic beauty from roses unlimited. I have only had one season with it because it and souvenir de la malmaison are great and were recommended for the south. It was a blooming machine even in the first year and beautiful and fragrant.

Edith de Murat as sold by Roses Unlimited is actually Mme. Cornelissen, a sport of Souvenir de la Malmaison and an excellent rose for the South.

Mme. Cornelissen is a sport of SdlM and a very lovely rose. I have a feeling that SdlM and its sports don't mind humidity, but they do seem to hate cool, foggy conditions such as Jeri has along the California coast. I'm more inland and further south from her, and have found that the Bourbons also do very well in a hot and dry climate. Ingrid

Edith de Murat' as sold by Angel Gardens is also identical to the rose being sold by others in the U.S. as 'Madame Cornélissen'. The identity "correction" was made by Vintage Gardens a number of years ago when they made a determination that their EdM was MC. It's been speculated that all roses now sold under either name by U.S. nurseries originated from a plant imported by Mike Lowe as 'EdM'. My plants (one from RU, a more recent one from AG) perform extremely well in my humid southern garden. I was immediately smitten with this rose, and have become even more fond of it with the passage of time. Have to admit, though, that I'm not as accepting of its identity as I once was. There are several European public gardens whose collections include roses being grown under both names (EdM & MC). But even in Europe, it's apparent that there's been EdM/MC confusion for quite some time. However, there's at least one European nursery, Ein Garten in Norddeutschland (A Garden in North Germany), that sells roses under both names, & it's obvious when examining their photos that the two are distinct from each other. I'm linking to their photograph of MC (see also Meineeine's first photo at HMF of the rose identified as MC in the Sangerhausen collection). Complicating matters, the nursery's catalog photo of their 'Edith de Murat' appears to be identical to the rose I'm growing as 'Mme Cornélissen'. It would be terrific to have new imports of both roses. Perhaps eventually DNA analysis will tell us which is the sport of SdlM -- that would settle the matter once and for all.

Interesting picture in Germany of MC. It looks nothing at all like my MC so there does seem to be a mixup somewhere. My MC in its foliage and growth habit seems very much like a sport of SdlM. I hope this will eventually be sorted out. Ingrid

The picture on the German website reminded me of 'Marie de St. Jean' (a damask perpetual) rather than something sporting from SdlM (a bourbon-tea). :-) ~Christopher

Thanks , Ingrid for letting me know that she is a sport of SdlM. After seeing photos of Sherry Ocala's SdlM on her blog, I feel confident that EdM is going to do very well here. Windeaux, you are certainly a wealth of information. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us. Whatever her name, I'm excited to think that I'll be growing her!
