Pretty heps Camps. I planted one of these this fall, it has already taken off, seems very vigorous, which should be a good thing since it will have a fair bit of competition from established bushes and trees nearby.

I've never really felt that rose hips (or heps) were especially interesting or an ornament in the garden, probably because we can have the flowers instead for much of the year, but the almost oriental grace of your rose has made me think otherwise. I understand now how important they would be in a four season garden (although lately you've had a two-season garden, wet and dry!). Thank you for opening my eyes.

Ingrid, that's one of the reasons to have once bloomers also, even in a 12 month blooming garden.

Beautiful, Campanula! I'm a big fan of heps and the off-season charms of roses. With 'Golden Wings', you not only get large numbers of big orange heps but unusually colored/textured brown wood. "Darlow's Enigma" has that huge multitude of little red heps that are almost, I think, a better deal than its flowers. My small plant of 'Lilac Charm' set some humongous yellow ones last fall that give me great hope for additional decorations for winter there.

The wildlife and, strangely, my current contingent of cats, also enjoy heps, frequently eating or chewing on them.

Heps or Hips, has anyone collected them and sown them to see "what" might come up, a possible lovely new rose ?
