Bouquet d'Or vs. Rve d'Or

So many similarities exist between these two roses- color, flower-form, class, and size, with both roses created and released by Ducher at roughly the same time. I've confused them in my head MANY times. How would one go about choosing one vs. the other? Is one of them hardier or healthier than the other, or more strongly scented? Rve d'Or, in photographs, is the more yellow-toned of the two. I don't think I've ever seen it in person. What I recall of Bouquet d'Or, the few times I've seen it, is it's pink and amber tones.

It's always so interesting to me to read everyone's opinions and experiences.

Zachary, color can be influenced by many factors, climate being one of the major ones. I've only had Reve d'Or, a rose I love very much but which was too hot in the one place I had for a climbing rose. Mine definitely had peach and some pink tones, and I would think you'd see even more of that in your cooler, more humid climate. Perhaps disease resistance might be a deciding facture; in my climate Reve d'Or had none. I hope posters closer to your conditions will talk about which rose is more suitable for you. I have a vague feeling that Bouquet d'Or may be fuller and more cupped, which may induce balling, and in that case I'd choose Reve d'Or which has rather open flowers.

RE: Bouquet d'Or vs. Rve d'Or

I have a baby Reve d"Or which is almost 2 years old. It grows in partial shade. So far it hasn't bloomed much, but it has grown a lot. It is about 7 feet tall, and climbing. The canes are thin, very flexible and not stiff at all. HMF says that it gets three times taller than Bouquet d"Or - up to 18 feet. It went through our 2 weeks of below freezing temps without a whimper.

Pictures of mature Reve d"Ors I have seen have been of a graceful, tall plant climbing up a house or tree and blooming all over with lovely semi-double blooms.

I would guess that Bouquet d"Or is shorter and more bushy and the blooms are way more double. So, it just depends on what you want in your garden.

RE: Bouquet d'Or vs. Rve d'Or

I believe Bouquet D'or is related to Gloire de Dijon, a seedling, I believe, and Bouquet D'or resembles her, in my mind. I had bouquet D'Or for several years and loved her!!! Healthy and wonderful fragrant blooms. I had planted her in a bad spot and moved and she died. Heartbreaking! I just bought another from Rogue Valley and it is very healthy and I hopes for her! She's one of those roses I would not be without!

Reve D'Or has different parentage, though I can't remember what it is right now. I just planted it a couple months ago so can't comment but I believe it's a more vigorous rose than Bouquet D'or. Bouquet d'Or was more of a pillar rose in my garden, while Reve d'or is much larger, I believe.
