Help me round out a Chamblee's order?

When someone posted that they were offering Blue For You last Nov., I placed an order at once. Shipping is early March.

But need another couple of plants. Twilight Zone was recommended by a friend. Chamblee's is pretty heavy on Austins, which except for Mary Rose, haven't been great performers for me. Still, it's been awhile since I tried any-- Sceptred Isle, Jude the Obscure, Sharifa Asma pop up alot here with favorable reviews.

I'm more tempted by smaller plants--Tamora sounds great.

Also, don't have many apricots/yellows. Has anyone tried South Africa--looks beautiful.

I guess the only unacceptable rose would be a non-fragrant one. I already have most of the ogrs they still offer--except for Penelope (had it once, a good performer) Crepuscule (seen it locally--very pretty) Buff Beauty (had it once, pretty but not a heavy bloomer).

Please help me decide!

I haven't grown South AFrica, but I love the pics I seen--and I have seen some very favorable comments on it on this forum.

Another excellent golden/apricot/yellow is Austin's Molineux--which doesn't get real large--more the size you like. Very floriferous.

I've been recommending Austin's Munstead Wood to everyone who will listen--gorgeous dark wine red/purple blooms. Also one of the smaller sizes.

If you don't have an Earth Song (bright pink), it is another excellent one--Buck rose, I think. Not excessively tall.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Mmmm, yeah, lots of nice comments on Molineux, too--is yours fragrant? Chamblee's lists it as moderate fragrance. I'll check out Munstead Wood.

What about Carding Mill?

Haha, the problem will be limiting the selection, no doubt. Thank you for the suggestions.

Carding Mill is wonderful in the heat, blooms a lot, very healthy, but I really don't remember it having a lot of fragrance. In my difficult garden fragrance is a luxury, not a requirement, since often fragrant roses don't tolerate the heat well. Earth Song, which seems to do very well with everyone, did nothing for me, never grew or bloomed, just sat there and pouted. It must be me.

Crepuscule is one of the roses I will always have to have. I adore it - and got several when I was at Chamblees last fall. You wont be sorry with this one. I also adore Carding Mill and got an own root at Chamblees. Got Blue For You, Twilight Zone, Love Song - you might try this one. I got Plum Perfect - has darling little pinky mauve blooms and lots of them. Chamblees has so many good ones.....hard to narrow it down to a few. I love going there......never leave without a bunch of roses.

Jude the Obscure has the most delicious fragrance- I admit that I don't (yet) grow it, but whenever I see a plant of it, I can't pull my nose away from that scent. And that lovely, creamy apricot color!
Who doesn't love Crepuscule? Anyone who CAN grow it SHOULD grow it.

Bluegirl, If you decide upon Carding Mill, I was able to purchase a 3 gallon own root from Burlington; maybe she has more???

Jude the Obscure is a rose I grew over a decade ago. It was a gorgeous rose with a nice fragrance but it never appeared apricot in my warm climate. The color was still nice but ranged from yellow, to cream when the temperatures rose.

South Africa looks gorgeous!!!
