| I don't have one yet, so I'd like to hear what others grow and how they like them. What kind of fragrances do they have, and how strong? How big? I still have plenty of space, so I can accommodate whoppers, and small is fine too. Have you found any with fragrant foliage? That is a trait I want to feature in my garden.
Rogue Valley has a number in stock right now, so some suggestions would be good. What tends to do best for me are old European garden roses and species.

| There are several of Paul's roses that I'd love to have but I just don't have the space for them. So the only one I have at the moment is the mini-moss Unconditional Love. It's a deep red sort of mini OGR looking bloom with lots of petals and those fuzzy mossed buds. It grew very well and had fairly good disease resistance but did spot some. The flowers were a bit tiny in the beginning but I have notice that they have gotten larger as the plant has matured. I'd say they're between 1 and 2 inches in size now. The plant is about 2 feet tall and wide. It's potted and I'll know how it's going to winter in April. |

| I only have Incantation. I loved the name and the bi-colored flowers. It's a smaller rose, described as 2-4 ft. |

| I grow 6 of Paul Barden's roses. Unconditional Love, Treasure Trail, Jeri Jennings, Golden Buddha, Siren's Keep, and Dragon's Blood. Unconditional Love, Treasure Trail and Jeri Jennings are my favorite of the group. Unconditional Love is a mini moss with a cupped old fashion bloom form, it is always in bloom and always healthy. Mine is 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Treasure Trail is also a moss and I would say it grows like a floribunda. Very unique flowers of pink and yellow with old fashion form and a button eye. Always healthy and two feet tall and three feet wide. Jeri Jennings is a beautiful Hybrid Musk with buttery yellow blooms, wonderful fragrance and a nice spreading habit. Mine is grown in partial shade and has been very healthy. Some report dealing with black spot on this rose but this has been very minor for me. It is 4 feet tall by six feet wide. Golden Buddha is a Hybrid Bracteata with intensely pumpkin colored blooms in my garden. It is always in bloom, almost to a fault. In my garden the plant is only about a foot and a half tall and two feet wide. I wish it would get bigger and then produce the blooms it does. It may be because this past summer was the hottest on record in Oklahoma and Golden Buddha had a hard time with the heat. Spring and Fall it shined in this its second year in my garden. Last year was the first for Siren's Keep and Dragon's Blood in my garden so I will wait to review them until after the coming season. They are both off to a good start though. I have pictures of all but Dragon's Blood in my blog which I will link to below. |

| I love all photos of Dragon's Blood which I've seen so far ... I'd LOVE to have this rose, been lusting after it for several years now ... but being in Canada, I have no way to get it. This would be the first I'd buy though, based on photos alone! |

Someone donated a tiny abused 'Dragons Blood' to our local rose society's aucition, in January. I was fortunate enough to bring it home. It's leafing out now, and tho I have not yet seen the blooms, I HAVE seen the foliage, which is remarkably beautiful. I'd recommend it on that score alone, without even seeing a bloom. Jeri |

| Jeri Jennings has the most beautiful yellow blooms I've ever seen, IMHO, and they hang on forever, in heavy trusses. And Dragon's Blood has the loveliest color of all the russets I collect. Both extremely healthy, with minimal blackspot. |

| I have to agree with Jeri about the foliage on Dragon's Blood. The dark green glossy leaves with a red tint are beautiful. I updated my blog yesterday by putting together photos and description of Paul's roses I am growing. |

| 'Dragon's Blood' has proven to be quite winter-hardy here in Zone 5b without any winter protection. However, it is not BS resistant and must be sprayed or it defoliates in a NYS. In my climate, the blossoms in spring are more russet and progress to orange as summer temps heat up.

I love Paul Barden's roses. They all are beautiful. My favorite for looks is Marianne. I love it so much that I allow it to stay even though I try now not to keep roses that require regular spraying. It is much prettier in life. Color is very soft and buttery. Gallicandy and Umbra are quite healthy for me. Allegra also keeps half of its leaves and I love myrrh fragrance a lot, Rook is relatively new for me as well as Song of the Stars not sure about their health yet. Jerri Jennings, Incantation, Ellen Tofflemire, Oshun had to go to other homes. Too much BS for me. Olga |

I have Borderer, Golden Buddha, Janet Inada, October Moon and Oshun, but most of those were bands planted in pots 10/11, so I won't really know about them for a while. :) October Moon (gallon) is the only one that's bloomed so far, and the bloom was lovely and smelled very nice! So I guess we'll see what they do this year! I heard a lot of conflicting opinions on Jeri Jennings (the rose. ;) ) on a search of the forum, she looks really pretty in photos to me! |

| I also have 'Jeri Jennings' and 'Oshun' and they both must be sprayed for BS or they become leafless by mid-summer. Both have proven winter-hardy but not totally cane-hardy. |

| I like 'Golden Buddha', because it has stayed small (2') which is a rare thing here. It's nice to have a petite plant with near-3" flowers. It blooms well. |
