Just got an email from Rogue Valley regarding limited availability of Harison's Yellow. Just wanted to shout it out in case some of you aren't on the email list.

They didn't have a price...I wonder what they are charging?

High Country has it in stock for May delivery already rooted though...

Harison's Yellow is almost impossible to root, they are usually grafted. Finding suckers for sale is pretty rare!

I had a gorgeous hedge of HY at my old house but it was too big and scary prickly to move and the new owners ripped it out. :( I've ordered a grafted one for delivery this spring, it's been 6 years since I moved and I still miss that rose.

It's not even that easy to propagate from suckers. Although it makes them freely, in my experience they often were still using the mother root. If that makes any sense.

When I got my sucker of Harisons Yellow I was told that no one could make it grow, I was wasting my time. The mother plant must have spread at least 30 feet so it wasn't hurting her to remove a sucker. Well that one grew and grew, it has been shared with many garden friends. I have it planted where everyone can see it when they drive down my street. It is a thorny monster but I love it.

Well if you get Harison's Yellow, you too will get suckers--and they won't be limited! Mine came from Greenmantle last year (own root) and is happily expanding its turf. I wanted lots'o yellow all over the place, so it appears I get my wish.;)

Besides the flowers, the tiny green leaves are very pretty.
