Question for Ingrid: Chaucer

| Hi Ingrid,
The recent post about Claire Rose made me remember you were interested in getting Chaucer. Did you? I wanted to reorder, but I hesitated because I was wondering if the mistake was a fluke, or if the nursery's entire stock might have been mixed up. |

| Hi bellegallica, I did indeed order Chaucer but have not yet received it. It's part of an order that includes China Doll and I was told that rose was too small to ship, so Chaucer won't be sent until China Doll pulls up its bootstraps and decides to grow. I've never received an incorrect order from Rogue Valley so don't believe their entire stock is mixed up. I don't think they'd be in business very long if it were. By the way, if I didn't already have Potter and Moore I'd definitely order it. The flowers are exquisite and it's one of the small Austins that can be tucked in anywhere. Ingrid |

| Thanks, Ingrid. I've ordered many times from them, and this would be the first mix-up. No big deal. I look at is as a way of trying a plant I might not have thought to try on my own. I'm afraid I didn't say that in the right way. I wasn't trying to say everything they have is mixed up, only Claire Rose and Chaucer. It would be an easy thing for a plant or two to take each other's place, especially if they're sitting next to each other in the greenhouse. I hope you get your Chaucer soon! Will you take pics for us when it blooms? Your photos always look so amazing. Thanks for the Potter and Moore recommendation. I'm afraid I've gone noisette crazy at the moment. I have both Jeanne d'Arc and Nastarana on order! |

| I ordered Chaucer from Rogue Valley Roses last spring. I planted it in my garden in the summer and it bloomed several times. The flowers do resemble the photos that I have seen on the Help Me Find site and in a number of rose books. I have grown Claire Rose in my garden 2 houses ago and am looking to get a new plant for my new home. Rogue Valley lists it as a rose that they propagate, but they have not had inventory of this rose (or a number of other older Austins that I am trying to get) in the last year or so. |
