| Here it is almost April and the long snow pile is still out front. So since the garden's cleaned up and I can't do much else, I'm thinking of a brief visit to Southern Calif. (Huntington Botanic Gardens, etc.) to enjoy roses. I have 3 questions:
1. When is the height of rose bloom time this year in southern California? 2. What gardens full of roses can I visit in that part of the state, end of March & start of April? (public gardens; but I'd love to see some gardenweb members' private rose gardens too) 3. Is RIGHT NOW the best time? Carol |

| Descanso Gardens believes that the best time to visit the International Rosarium is in April and October. Support for that thesis is indicated by the fact that rose shows in Southern California begin in the last two weeks of April at San Fernando and Pacific Rose Society (at the Arboretum). Given the current weather, right now is not really the best time. I have bloom in my garden, but decent bloom is easily two or three weeks away. JMO, of course. |

| Oh, well; so much for a quick S. Calif. visit next week. Instead, maybe I can fly to Florida. I see by other postings that roses are rioting there right now. Carol |
