Kippy - what a good idea! I also had a similar one - I took pictures of my garden yesterday, and plan to take some of the same places in April, May, June, etc to compare them - fun!

I love this time of year because roses like the big white one on the hillside eating the fence you posted a pic of suddenly appear everywhere - they are mostly once bloomers, and every year I am surprised and delighted to see them in unlikely or abandoned (or at least untended) places.

I wanted to see how the ones in the local park did for my own "research" purposes.

I spotted that happy green giant on the way, I had to loop back through a neighborhood-where I found a wonderful entry arch. A White Eden seems to be climbing on it.

The green giant is up a hillside on a "highway" through town so no way to get up to see it closer, but I sure enjoyed discovering it.

I love the gateway.

I wonder whether the huge rose on the hillside could be R. fortuneana? (I hope I spelled that right).

I have no idea Ingrid, but it is really spectacular. It has to be 8 feet tall over the fence with those long canes. And the blooms look larger than I would have expected.
