Old Town Novato at Sacramento Cemetery Open Garden

Our propagators have been busy and we have many more roses than we thought we would have for sale at the Open Garden (we were afraid that our list was going to be scanty since we sold so many at last fall's symposium, but we will have at least 250, probably morel).

Included in the list are several Old Town Novato, which I know that at least one of you was hoping would be available. Our sales table is first come, first served, starting at 930. Some of you come every year an hour or two early and stand in line. If there's something you really want, it might be wise. A few choice roses will be on our Silent Auction, too.

Emails and photos are flying back and forth between us Sacramento volunteers and Jeri, who makes the catalog. We hope to have it ready for your perusal by the beginning of April.

Open Garden is April 20, 930-2. No, we don't ship.
Anita

Can't wait to see what will be in the catalog. We're staying in the area the night before to see Arlo Guthrie at UC Davis so getting there early won't be as painful as from Pacifica.

Old Town Novato has my vote as a GREAT rose.

We had to miss Open Garden last year, so doing the catalog is really making me "itchy" for the day, and the roses, and the rose people.

And, if you've not seen it, here is "Old Town Novato," grown here at the Coast.

250 plants!! Last year had- 100? 125? And they were gone very quickly. I'm very afraid to say that the feeling I have right now is "covetous." I guess I'll just have to tough it out.

We had about 325 plants last year - and yes, they were gone quickly. We save out a few very special roses and put them on silent auction, to give people a chance to bid on them (and to raise a few more dollars).

Yes, the silent auction. Still kicking myself for not bidding on Aimee Vibert. Oh well, looking forward to April. I'm feeling greedy already :-). Last year I bought OTN among others and got a wonderful tour from Janelle (sp?).

Anne! Anne! Aimee Vibert will be offered this year!!!

And, you know, the bush form (which is what the cemetery has) isn't widely available in the U.S. -- so this is a real opportunity.

I love that thing! Love the fragrance!

Wonderful news, Jeri! Thanks for the heads up. That is what I am looking for--the bush NOT the climber. I guess I will be one of those people standing in line early :-)

Thank you for sharing this news, I did post a few weeks ago about OTN for possible leads. I'm driving up for the Open Garden this year and will keep my finger's crossed!

The cemetery garden is looking so lovely - leaves budding out all over, a few roses already popping into bloom, things fairly well weeded and trimmed - I'm getting excited about Open Garden!
