This is the third year, and it is absolutely covered with blooms. Couldn't ask for a nicer rose!

We have Gilbert Nabonnand in our Central Calif. garden and it has been by far the best tea rose for us (and all our teas do pretty well here). Fastest growth and most blooms. And the pale peachy blooms are so beautiful in that fragile "tea" way! The only complaint I have so far is that GN is a little leggy, so we've planted things in front of his legs.

It's gorgeous here, as well, along the Ventura Co. Coast. And the delicious red new foliage is a show all of itself.

Here's what I can find quickly:

The lovely new red foliage:

Here, near the SoCal coast, this is a truly lovely rose. A lovely PLANT! It's disease-free for us, and blooms generously. Right now, it's a mass of mahogany red, looking down the hill to the garden. (It might not like hot, dry, inland/desert heat). To me, the blooms are "opalescent." Loverly.

love that new growth!

So do I Aimee. It's so lovely it ought to be edible.
That's one of the things I love about the real old Teas.

You've got me thinking, Jeri... If rose hips, rose petals and rose buds are all edible (tea, sandwiches, dessert toppings, stir-fry components etc.), why not the lovely baby red leaves? If you can bear to pick them, of course...

I bet they are -- but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

And I thought my GN was "special" because he's been blooming nonstop since Feb :-) Been meaning to ask... I notice some beautiful solid cream colored, (not peach) blossoms that keep blooming on 1 area of my G Nabbonand. Is this unusual or has anyone else noticed this?
