Anyone else like to gaze at petals? These are not from fragrant roses (with the exception of the dark red Mr. Lincolns), so I won't be keeping them, but I did want to memorialize their existence. Included here: Queen of Sweden Molineux The Alnwick Rose Tamora Marie Van Houtte as well as HT Pink Peace and Mr. L., as above. Soon I should have Munstead Wood, Carding Mill, Darcey Bussell and (hopefully) Falstaff. He's not pumping out any blooms right now (2nd year). Here's to evanescence, Sylvia

I love walking through them after they've fallen on the path and lawn. My young daughter collects them and plays rose petal tea party. Your photo is a romantic collage of silken beauties! The froth of petals looks positively and lusciously decadent, like it's awaiting satin sheets or scented bath water. Carol

Thank you, Carol! Next time I have a batch, I will dump them in the tub. Followed by myself. Sylvia

That is a beautiful picture, Sylvia. One of my favorite rose memories is the way that 'New Dawn' scattered its immense number of silky pale pink petals on a soft grey deck at a long ago house. I finally learned to sweep up the petals before they turned brown though and put them into a flower bed. Left on the deck too long they turned brown and melted into the deck. I never wanted to sweep them up though as I wanted to look at them as long as I could. I wish I'd thought of putting them into bathwater! Gean
