On Saturday, May 17, join us for an informative walking tour of the heritage roses (some of which date back to Civil War days) at the San Juan Bautista District Cemetery (70 Monterey Street). The tour will be led by Jill Perry, Curator of the Collection at the Heritage Rose Garden in San Jose; joining her will be Jeri Jennings, National Convener for the Heritage Roses Group. After touring the roses and collecting some cuttings, we will then proceed to the lovely garden of the historic Marentis House (45 Monterey Street) for a propagation workshop. Bring a hat, water, pencil and paper and maybe clippers and gloves, and get ready for a "scent"sational day! We will meet at the bottom of the Cemetery at noon to start the tour and the propagation workshop will be from about 1:30 - 3:00. Contact Jill to sign up for the tour (helpful but not required) or with questions: oldtearoses@hotmail.com. Please consider joining the newly formed San Juan Bautista Heritage Rose Group.

Darn I've always got work to do the day before The Celebration of Old Roses. I'd love to attend.

I may not end up seeing you all at this event. Between the heat and dealing with the neighbor issues I am tired and not gotten anything together to spend a day driving. If I make it I have a white small SUV and a white sun hat

Kippy, I won't be there either. Recovering from the flu and saving my energy for Sunday's Celebration. Diane

I'll miss you both, but we'll have a good sized group there. Kippy, the expected temperature will only be 82, so if that's not too hot, give it a try. Diane take care of yourself, and I'll see you Sunday. Jill

I would so love to go! It is about a 3.5-4 hour drive and I am more worried about getting too tired to drive home alone. I have not slept more than a few hours each night because of the heat here and I get things on my mind and can't shut my brain off; between dealing with my own tenants, sealing our parking lot and then having to deal with the county and all of moms concerns. I worry about that drive back.

Sorry you couldn't make it (and, it IS a long drive) but we did have a grand time. :-)
