O/T Med climate gardening books

I would like to recommend two books about gardening in med type climates that I recently bought and I have excellent impressions of.

These are
a. The Mediterranean Gardener by Hugo Latymer and
b. Garden Plants for Mediterranean Climates by Graham Payne

A caveat. While these books discuss gardening in med type climates, the first of them more than the second is centered culturally, plant wise (nativity as well as availability wise) on the actual Mediterranean region rather than other areas of the world with similar climate.

I also have 'The New Sunset Western Garden Book: The Ultimate Gardening Guide' on order, to gain an insight on the American way of doing the same more or less the same thing.

If any of you would like to recommend other books and resources on the subject you're welcome to chime in.

"Sun Drenched Gardens" by Smithen is pretty good.

Do you know of any recent books about Lawrence Johnstons' collection of plants at his garden in the south of France?

From Amazon, a small monthly in the garden to do type book that is out of print I believe, it is cheap because it was widely promoted is the LA Times "52 Weeks in the California Garden" by Robert Smaus and my other favorite "Southern California Gardening" by Pat Welch. She has an organic version too.

They say that we have a Mediterranean climate here on the coast.
