Can anything be done to make Heritage blooms last longer?

I bought Heritage last summer & was disappointed that the blooms that opened in the morning were blown away by the afternoon. This is a sharp contrast to the flowers on Teasing Georgia & James Galway which last several days.

Heritage survived the winter & is leafing out nicely right now. Is there anything I can do to make the blooms more long-lasting?

Does it receive full day sun? Having a thin petalled rose protected from midday and afternoon sun often helps.

Nik, thanks for your speedy reply. I'll have to pay attention to how much sun it gets. If I remember correctly it got sun in the morning thru early afternoon.

My Heritage is in a pot on my deck so I can easily move it around.

Mine does not last very long once the bud breaks, a day or so, at most and they are all in the shade of a large magnolia but the fragrance and splendid beauty are worth it. It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Patricia, that is very true but I was wondering if there was some magic tonic I could use to strengthen the petals. Roses are like kids - they may look similar, but each one has its own characteristics and Heritage just needs a bit more oomph.

Maybe the 2nd year blooms will be hardier. I'll have to wait & see.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Mine is 10 years old. If we have a shady spring, the bloom lasts a bit longer, maybe a couple hours. No roses are not like kids in the case of DNA. All kids' DNA is made up of their parents whose DNA is made up of their parents, grandparents' parents, etc. Heritage has a specific makeup and all plants are the same or they would not be Heritage. Nevermind. You are right. Everything is different, everywhere.

My Heritage's blooms typically lasted a day or two. It was planted deep with good soil and almost all day sun. It got Rose Rosette disease (Witches Broom) so I had to pull it up.

Cutting it and bringing the bloom into the house was a different matter than staying on the plant. It shattered in about 1 hour and nothing I tried to slow it down worked.

A real pity about Heritage. I keep waiting for a new version of Heritage (like with William Shakespeare) that is an improved version, but I may have to wait in vain.
