Evidently there was a controversy once about whether MJS was a seedling or a sport of DdB. Here is a picture of my 40+ year old MJS, sporting back to DdB for your amusement, so I am voting that it is a sport.

Jackie, I'd say you've made an excellent case for it being a sport. I love both roses and am glad to see your photo since both of mine succumbed to the heat.

I see your roses are waking up. Hope to see lots more pictures of them and your romantic garden.

Beautiful photo, Jackie!

This makes me wonder if my DdB is really MJS since the blooms I've seen on it so far have been very pale pink to almost white.

It's always to find one of those proof cases. I was delighted, years ago, when there was an argument going as to whether RoYT, Pickering, or Heirloom had the true Autumn Damask, to find its known sport, Perpetual White Moss, sported on plants of the RoYT version, at Mottisfont Abbey and at Mannington Hall.
