I love love this rose (1918 hybrid musk). Also, I have always thought it ironic that it came out a the end of WWI, while 'Peace' came out at the end of WWII - hope springs eternal, I guess. Jackie

If I could grow hybrid musks this would have to be one of them; yours is just so lovely.

Jackie, I love your comment on the names. Your plant is lovely! I adore hybrid musks and would surely grow Pax (as much for the name and history as the delicate flowers) if I could squeeze one more into my beds. I have Buff Beauty and Penelope and I just gave my Ballerina to a friend. I'm in the process of rearranging most of my garden which was erratically pieced together over the years. Keep your photos coming. I love your posts! Carol

It's beautiful, Jackie, and looks very healthy!

That is just beautiful, Jackie.

I too like 'Pax' very much, though don't have the good fortune to have a really good plant of it in my garden: the Hybrid Musks need careful placement here. It's actually more beautiful than Jackie's photo shows it (sorry, Jackie!), for its elegant long buds and for the contrast between the pale flowers and the dark foliage.

They need careful placement here too - in fact, they must be one of the only classes of rose which grow more enormous than they do in Cali - nothing under 8feet. Looks perfect in your garden, Jacqueline. Am intending to get into a HM craze for the woods - perfect for understory roses in dappled light. Pax and Moonlight (and the lovely Jacqueline Humery) are my top choices.....although Penelope, which is badly behaved and angular in it's restricted allotment spot, may well do much better too....and I have a collection of Lens roses which are begging for more acreage.. |

Beautiful! I have a sentimental love for it, besides it's obvious beauty as a rose. Got a good start last year from Vintage--can't wait to see those gorgeous white blooms. Great grandmother grew this one, grandmother grew Peace.
