MAJOR pruning on Reve d'Or, Cornelia, Madame Alfred Carriere

I have had these climbing roses for over ten years. Each year, after their spring show, i trim them a bit. nothing major, dead wood, reshaping, that type thing. They grow outside of my screened porch and i like the privacy they offer. Each is over 15 feet tall.

HOWEVER! They are a mess. I would LIKE to prune them down to around 6 feet max. maybe 4 feet. they have not sent up basals, most major canes are the original ones i trained up and laterals supply the rest.

I would not be crushed if this wipes them out. I'd just take it as an opportunity to try something new! But, they are nicely established plants, and i want to 'do them right'...squatters rights and all!

any tips on such a major pruning and how best to encourage basals? they are all own root roses.

thanks!!!!
