Can anyone provide feedback on Heritage? I'm particularly interested in growing it as a small climber, and wondering whether it blooms and repeats well? Also curious how it performs in a hot, dry climate? Thanks for any help! jannike

Beautiful flowers that last about two hours. Lots and lots of Rust. Long gone.

Thanks for your feedback, hoovb. I've never experienced rust on roses. Am I just lucky (so far), or is my hot, dry climate less predisposed to it? Iceberg is ubiquitous in my area, and for good reason. It's smothered in blooms nearly year round, and seems to be disease free here. When I learned that Iceberg is a parent of Heritage, I had high hopes Heritage would be a good rose here, but if it isn't, I certainly want to know before I waste time, money, and precious garden space on it. I recall someone posting that the quick shattering was inconsequential, since shattered blooms were so quickly replaced with new blooms. However, is that the case in my zone? Also, if blooms shatter after two hours in your temperate climate, how long will they last in my heat --- 20 minutes??? jannike

I think it would do well as a climber. Mine can get very large. This year, it suffered a lot of cold damage, so it's now about 2 feet. But I bet by the end of the year it will be up to 6 feet. It also has long flexible canes. I've though about moving it to a spot where I could give it support. It does bloom a lot. Most Austins get blackspot in my yard, but Heritage does seem to have some resistance. Which is strange now that I know Iceberg is a parent. Iceberg is a BS magnet here.

Mine is about 6-7 feet in zone 7-8, but I don't think it would be pliable enough to train it as a climber although a poster from Texas who no longer posts here swore she grew it as a climber/rambler. Like Hoov said, blooms last about 2 hours.

It is a strongly-growing self-supporting shrub about 6-7' tall here. The canes are smooth for the most part which is nice, but as other posters said they aren't flexible so would be hard to train as a climber. It repeats well and I don't really notice how quickly the blooms shatter on the bush because there are so many of them. There is always a good continuity of blooms. They do seem to wilt/shatter overnight when brought in as a cut flower, though I think they last longer than 2 hours!
