Here is the bloom. This came from K and M last year as "Mlle. Sombreuil CL" Nice fragrance. Bushy. Susan

I am not familiar with the "Mlle" part of the name, but that looks like Sombreuil to me! It is very pretty! If my house were not that very color, I would love to have it! Nancy

I think the only way to tell for sure is to have a frontal view of the fully open bloom, but again to me it looks more like Sombreuil, the climber, rather than Mlle. de Sombreuil, the tea rose. I hope you have room for the climber if that's what it turns out to be. It's a shame that the climber wasn't given a different name when it was realized that a mistake had been made in its identification. Ingrid

Susan, it looks more like Mlle. de Sombreuil to me. The climber Sombreuil/Colonial White is quite thorny. Is your plant thorny? There's a good photo of a Sombreuil/Colonial White bloom on the other post by Tuderte. I think the photo is Jeri's. As Ingrid mentioned, full on, they look very different. Carol

Mine is not thorny and it is so bushy I don't see how it could be a climber. I just received the climber from ARE. Will take photos and share. Ingrid I think you have the climber. . . Susan

Gee, things get confusing, don't they? The more I know, the less I know. I grew up with Fortuniana but never pruned a mature plant and on Kippy's thread I am learning all kinds of things about its various canes--completely thornless to quite thorny depending on the season. On the Sombreuil threads I'm learning that even the debate between Colonial White and Mlle. isn't the end of the matter. Looking forward to more pics, Susan! Whatever you and Ingrid are growing and whether or not they're the same, they sure are pretty! Carol

Susan, in spite of its growth habit, mine is not the climber Sombreuil. The blooms really are distinctly different if you look at both on helpmefind. It's strange that your plant is bushy since the flowers look to me more like the climber. Could you possibly show a fully open flower from the front? We seem to have an interesting little mystery here. Ingrid
