Ok, so after the retched low of 29 tonight I am predicting no more cold weather! Period! I wanted to share this photo cause I'm really proud of this little vignette. The tulips and daffs have a little blankie on tonight. Susan

Susan , what did u do with your roses? Mine are all on a screened in porch but I'm thinking of bringing them In to our home for the night. What do you think ? Love the daffodils ! And your statuary is neat! s there a story behind it ?

I love spring bulbs and this is such a sweet picture. Roses are lovely but sometimes it's really refreshing to see other beautiful plants, and these brighten up the spring season so much. Ingrid

Susan, lovely yellow and white. So sunny and warm looking (during your cold snap). Hope the blankets kept everything cozy. I have many memories of my mom's garden in Dallas covered in towels and blankets. On and off. On and off. The weather must be as changeable in TN as it is in TX! Carol

What a pretty picture! I brought my 8 new ones inside. Last night I took them out again since today we will have a low of 40. I am hoping that our 29 was just a "flash" since there is nothing I could really do with the rest of the roses. I see your roses in the background. They look good. I have cut mine back so far that I will be cutting out my daffodil foliage early this year so that the sun can get to the roses. I hope your roses are ok after the low temps. You know we lived in Nashville for 8 years, and i remember the garden near the museum so well. I forget the name of it, but I used to take my children there in the summer for art lessons, and would wander through the garden while waiting for them. The museum was originally owned by the Maxwell House heir, but was public when we lived there. Do you happen to know if it is still there? Sammy

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Lilly, I took my bands into the garage. Some of my roses I covered with burlap. This morning the daffs aren't even wilted so I'm assuming I'm close to 5 degrees warmer than the weather station (urban area, fenced, SW garden site). Yes, I'm thrilled with the yellow. Don't use much of it but this was encouraging! Sammy, the garden you are thinking of is at Cheekwood. We have the NRS meetings there. It's beautiful! They have really made an effort to get the community involved with all kids of events for adults and children--jazz on the lawn---20,000 Easter egg hunt. During the summer they have these fantastic creative tree houses, art camps for kids... I hope your roses do just fine and I'm betting they will! Susan

29 shouldn't hurt the roses much. That's a sweet photo.

This looks great, Susan. Spring bulbs are so satisfying and cheerful. I love the statuary too. Hopefully you'll tell us how came across it.

Thanks you all. Sidos, I'm frugal...so I always look at estate sales/craigslist/etc. to find treasures for my garden. This little man came from Craigslist here. Evidently his owner was moving and downsizing. She bought him at Heart of Country Antique show here which has absolutely beautiful antiques marked up about 400% more than they are worth. Anyway, he's solid concrete and I got him for $40. He used to wear a starfish crown I created but that wouldn't stay in place (and my daughter said it was "creepy"). His necklace is made of shells I've found while vacationing on St. George's Island in Fla. He is my pride and joy and I just love him. Evidently at some point the shell was painted blue and red. I love that he has his little feet in the water! He is my patron Saint of Beaches. He is on a solid concrete basin and base that I got at a garage sale for $30. I will post some photos of my other bargain fountain. I usually show up about an hour before closing at a sale and just make a reasonable offer. Usually the folks just accept it. I've gotten some really truly amazing urns that way too.

Beautiful seashells and blooms! I like the blue color on the statue.
