 o
ID for Mystery Rose in Berkeley, Ca -- believed to be antique

I originally posted in the Name That Rose Forum, and rec'd one (brave) reply. Thought I'd try this forum, after noticing several people had attended the Celebration of Old Roses in El Cerrito, Ca, on May 18.

This rose was one of the featured roses at the Celebration. The rose has been given the study name of "Berkeley Ivory."

My posts and pix for this rose are at the link below.

Can you ID this rose? Any other thoughts?

'Mme. Jules Bouche' comes immediately to mind. This is a very common found rose here in Italy, a tough, sweet-scented, Tea-like old HT, introduced around 1909-10 and spread throughout the country as a passalong rose, which is how I got it. I hear that 'Snowbird' is similar, but have never seen it.
Good luck in your researches: it looks like a good rose.

thanks, Melissa. I will check into Mme Jules Bouche. If this rose is identified as MJB or something else, I will follow-up with a post here.

Twenty or so young plants of "Berkeley Ivory" were sold at the Celebration (proceeds to benefit the Bay Area Heritage Roses Group). I'm pleased that this lovely rose will be growing in other backyards.
