Just ordered Complicata!

Almost complete with my row of albas, damask and now gallicas. Complicata is going next to hippolyte. Don't know much besides it's a healthy bush. Any info would be helpful. Space for one more rose. I think princesse de lamballe next. If I'm wrong with complicata please let me know before I plant it with my Albas and damask.

Good for you, getting Complicata! Mine is certainly a "healthy bush" and is just now forming buds for a June blooming. This is in almost zone 7a in RI. Complicata, BTW, can tolerate a certain amount of shade and still bloom, but less. Enjoy that lovely old-fashioned rose!

I understand it can be grown as a climber, possibly not in your climate. It's a vigorous rose that suckers moderately on its own roots. Be aware that it's a fairly bright pink. I have one next to 'Zephirine Drouhin', which is quite a loud color, and wish I didn't. For my tastes it's good next to pale shades; it might do well with purple, too.

Mine is living a carefree life up in an apple tree. It has a rose called The Gift growing through part of it. The small white flowers look beautiful with Complicata's pink.
