Please help me identify this rose. We've planted this rose in Thailand about 40 years or more but no one can identify it.Thai rosarian call it "Nong Chang Tai Rose" or the dead elephant pond in thai meaning that's the name of village in Thai province .Is this rose the normal Cecile Brunner bush? It's an Earthkind rose, no maintenance, disease resistant, drought tolerant, heat resistant, good bloomer. The blooms are slightly fragrant,Pink blend Polyantha Blooms in flushes all year.Height 8-ft. Thank you.

It's difficult to make the statement that your rose IS Cecile Brunner. It MIGHT be, but climate makes an enormous difference in how a rose looks and performs. There are elements about it which indicate it COULD be Cecile, a mutation of it or at least something along similar breeding lines. It might even be possible it's a seedling of Cecile. But, there are also things about it which seem just enough off to prevent being able so say, "yes, this IS Cecile". Being able to grow your rose beside one known to be Cecile would definitely help as that would eliminate the climatic differences. The only other way is to have your rose genetically tested against a known Cecile to check for any DNA differences. Check out the photos on Help Me Find-Roses at the link below and you'll understand what I mean. I agree with Kate, whatever it is, it's a beautiful rose! Good luck! Kim

Yes. It's lovely, but no -- like Roseseek, I can't say that this is Mlle. Cecile Brunner. (Or, that it is not!)

But I do think it is beautiful!

The open flowers do not look right to me for Cecile Brunner, and I have seen it in hot, humid tropical climates throughout the world, where it always seems to look the same as it does here. So I'm thinking it's something else, but not something I recognize off hand.
