I have only one Mrs. Herbert Stevens plant in my backyard and just love it but I am wondering how to split it and multiply in my garden. It is really fragrant and beautiful. Please help.

RE: Mrs. Herbert Stevens

Find a cane about the diameter of a #2 pencil.
Make sure it is from one that has budded out. Cut it off.
Have a small pot of sterile potting medium ready.Use a pencil, and poke a hole down into the potting medium. Take your cutting and
Take off all the thorns, the bud, and all the leaves, except the ones near the top.
Then, dip and roll the stem end in some honey, and into the potting medium with it. Water it in good.
Place the whole thing into a gallon zip top bag. Zip it ALMOST all the way closed, and put a drinking straw in and blow up the bag, then close it all the way. Leave it in bright shade for about three to four weeks, or until you notice new growth coming from the stem. Then you may open the bag for it to get air. Transplant to a gallon pot once you see it set bloom.
OR you can take a cutting and plant it next to the mother, and cover it with a quart mason jar, and transplant it when it has grown up a bit.
