Your Ten Best Roses Now

I know we've played this game before multiple times, but time, weather, maturity and other factors will usually conspire to change the list at least to some extent. I'd love to know what your choices are this spring. Below are mine:

Souvenir de la Malmaison
Mutabilis
La France
Bishop's Castle
Potter and Moore
Le Vesuve
Mlle. de Sombreuil
Rosette Delizy
Belinda's Dream
Mrs. B.R. Cant

I just now spotted vettin's post of top five roses so this thread is rather redundant. Please ignore. I thought I had read the whole page of posts before I posted mine but somehow missed it.

Ingrid, how about starting a new topic of something like best this June including location and if the plant is under or over 3 years old. It might be fun to do each month and useful as well.

Not a bad idea, Kippy, and putting down the age of the plant would be very helpful.

The list for July and August could definitely be interesting....

It's too early in the season for me to even say. Of my existing roses none are much tall than a foot or two and no blooms yet. Of my new ones I have no idea if any of them will be any good or not, lol!

It's hard for me to qualify mine, being as four I've had for two years, virtually all the rest for one year, and a handful of others for only a couple months. BUT...if I was to pick the ten best overall so far, I'd go with (not in rank order):

"Bermuda Spice"
'Cardinal de Richelieu'
'Clotilde Soupert'
"Darlow's Enigma"
'Golden Buddha'
'Louis Philippe'
'Marie Pavie'
'Rose de Rescht'
'Souvenir de Victor Landeau'
'The Prince'

These ten had the cleanest foliage (especially 'Golden Buddha' and "Darlow's Enigma", which were virtually spotless last year), something worth mentioning here in blackspot paradise. They had good amounts of growth considering their youth (though there were some others which also grew very well, some even more so). The flowers were very pleasing, even if outranked in this area by others.

As for the rest, I've yet to see something (in this short amount of time) that I find "horrible" enough to warrant removal, so don't think that because I didn't mention something that I wouldn't recommend it. This was just my top ten -- which, of course, can easily change by the end of this year.
