R. primula photo 2014-05-12144518_zps3ba491f3.jpg

The first bloom of the season, R. primula. In a few days, this one will have plenty of company. Not only on this shrub, but on the R. hugonis in the front yard also. Then the soft fragrance of rose will have it's yearly battle with the stronger fragrance of lilac. This year, the spicy scent of Viburnum carlesii is also in the mix. Interesting times.

It's lovely! Things are blooming all out of order this year around here too. I have forsythia and lilacs blooming at the same time. That's never happened before!

It might be the wrong word, but my first impression of your picture is that the rose looks so "natural." After this long, dreadful winter, it must be exciting to have your first blooms, especially such special ones.

It would be another few weeks before I will see any blooms. For a moment, I was living your garden vicariously. Enjoy!

I love all the different blending of fragrances. Enjoy!
