| Honestly, it is more strange than annoying. By definition, this happens on large, hardy roses that can handle a lot more damage than this. Just everything comes through the winter in decent shape except for this problem. And it will take me years to find and get rid of all of it. The cicadas tend to do this on the bottom side, and it isn't necessarily enough damage to kill the cane. Something else that apparently can't read the books. They are supposed to prefer oak trees, and manage with other forest tree types. At least this year they left the bay tree alone. |
