Is this Jacques Cartier?

Jacques was taking a prime spot in the yard, i SP him so I could put Liebeszauber there. I thought Liebeszauber was blooming - I think this is Jacques growing from the roots..
.Liebeszauber is still there, and the leaves etc look different. It has large buds but has not bloomed yet...
if this is Jacques Cartier I have to give this rose credit for its persistence

Well, it isn't Jacques Cartier, but it may very well have been the rose you removed.

JC's buds are very distinctive - like tiny cropped little cabbages - not that neat little conical shape yours have (although I agree, the bloom is very plausible). Also JC has a very definite classic rose fragrance - floral pomades, elderly ladies handbags, dressing tables.............
