Hello. I planted this rose and to get to the tag would likely be lethal.
It's in a bed of HPs/Bourbons....I believe I planted MIP, Svr. du President Lincoln and Deuil de Dr. Reynaud--the deep garnet doesn't seem to be any of these. Anybody recognize this one?

Try 'Souv. du Docteur Jamain.' If that's it, it should be fragrant.

SdDJ is thornless. If you see prickles on the red guy, that's not him. Something is popping into my head that you and I both have 'Pierre Notting' -- the red HP, NOT the yellow Tea known as 'Souvenir de Pierre Notting'. If so, that might be it. Did you ever save a list of roses you bought? That could help narrow it down.

No, its not. It doesn't have a lot, but its not thornless.

Well, Trospero, do you have a guess? Thanks everybody! I do have a list and yes, it could be Pierre Notting....I will take a look at the canes. It is very fragrant and deep rich velvety garnet blood fading to dusky murrey. I want to sleep on 10,000 of its petals....

Paul, I guess mine is too young for them to show -- all the canes are completely smooth so far. I can't remember if there are hooks under the leaflets -- will have to check tomorrow.
