Best rooting hormone is....

My new HT Tiara rose is quite healthy and has a fabulous bloom, so I'm tempted to try rooting a cutting. What is the best rooting hormone?

We like Dip n Grow.

Generally speaking, Rootone is too strong -- so if you use it, shake most of it off.

We like to use both rooting hormone AND willow water.

We use Dip-N-Grow diluted 1 part to 8 parts water for most roses and up to 1 part per 5 parts water for more difficult stuff. We can root nearly any rose at a high percentage success rate. We've also used Hormodin II and III (same deal -- III for the difficult stuff) with good success as well, and as Jeri suggests for Rootone, we knock off all but a light dusting of it from the cutting, and we pre-poke the holes in the soil so that film won't be wiped away when planting. With Dip-N-Grow, there is no need to pre-punch the holes.
