Anyone have Comtesse Festetics Hamilton?

Can anyone tell me how this rose performs for them. I would also like to know what size it normally is. HMF does not list its size but I did see one picture of it and it looks rather large which is what I am hoping for. Thank you -- Marcia

Marcia, I don't grow her, but I believe that Masha, who posts here, is the one who posted the lovely HMF photo of Comtesse at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden. I have also guessed that Masha also has a blog called Rosomanes. Perhaps you could contact her? Carol

Thank you Carol, I have sent her off an e-mail. I can't believe I've been so unable to find more about this rose from searching this site and the internet in general!

I no longer grow it, but know a bit of its history. I received it from Miriam Wilkins in the mid-to-late 1980s (not sure of the exact date). At that time, it was thought perhaps to be a synonym of 'Mons. Tillier'/'Archiduc Joseph'. We tried to cure it of Rose Mosaic, but it's one of those roses that doesn't survive the heat chamber, so we never cleaned it up. Eventually, we sent it to Vintage Gardens. Gregg Lowery determined that it was not identical to MT/AJ, and I suspect most (all) of the plants of it in the US came from that nursery, unless also a gift of Miriam. I wish I knew where she got it, but I don't.
