CPM help

Hi,

I am new to growing roses. Just picked up my first Austin, crown princess margareta. It's been in the ground for almost a month now, but is just starting to show tiny growth buds. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I bought it at oakland nursey, and don't know whether it is own root or graft. I'm just learning a lot of this stuff. Would really appreciate any advice

I don't know about anyone else, but of all the roses I planted this year, CPM is the S-L-O-W-E-S-T! I planted her bare root in early April at the same time as numerous others. I am starting to get blooms on most everything, CPM barely has full sized leaves. I'm patient, I've seen this kind of behavior before and I trust that everything will eventually grow at its own pace.

RE: CPM help

"Almost a month in the ground" isn't much time at all for a rose which is busy building the good root system it needs to survive summer heat and winter cold.

Just make sure the soil stays moist--not wet nor dry, just moist.

Thanks Kate and ratdogheads. I wasn't worried till I saw my neighbor's Abraham Darby, which they bought at the same time I did, beginning to bloom like crazy. That got me a little concerned and I know they didn't do anything special.
