Old Gray Cemetary Noisette

Can anyone in the South tell me how big this rose gets for you? HMF doesn't have much info. Right now, it's in a five-gallon pot and seems to be in continual bloom. I really like it, but I'm not sure how to place it.

The original plant is about six feet tall, but that's in east Tennessee. It's old and has a termite problem. Also a shade problem and a never been cared for problem.

In my garden my plant became five feet tall and about as wide in six years.

A very similar rose down in South Carolina grows wider (Darned if I know why) and to that height.

Than you, Ann. That's a big help. I'm not sure if mine would get that big due to the useless "soil" down here. I grow my own-root roses in a soil of my own concoction due to the nematodes. I think I will place it hoping it will get that big.

I'll be really interested to know if the nematodes are a problem.

The one in SC is in really sandy soil; mine is in a less than wonderful acidic red clay.

I'll let you know after it's been in the ground for awhile. The only roses I don't do total soil replacement for are Chinas and of course those on Fort. I planted my first antiques in 2002 in my man-made soil. Other than the ones I've lost to a mysterious cane dieback disease, they all look really good still, but all the experts here say the nematodes will eventually take their toll.
