It LOOKS (at least to me) like the damage you get when spray runs down to the point of the leaf, and dries off there.

We're seeing a lot of similar discoloration here, after several years of drought, but for us, it is then usually accompanied by a white "edging" around the dead areas. That's mineral salts from our cr*ppy water, with no rain to clean out the environment.

Thanks, jerijen- if it's just something cosmetic, it's no big deal- I expect it will grow prettier leaves eventually.

None of the 3 tea roses had anything similar going on, so I did wonder. I guess they were in a different area of the nursery or on a different spray regimen or something...
