I noticed that my recently acquired Mt Vernon Noisette has some leaves with an odd pattern of browned tips. I'm inclined to think it's not anything to worry about- perhaps a little leaf scorch, or maybe due to the stress of shipping- but I wouldn't mind some reassurance, since I'm so new to roses. I did Google for rose leaf problems, and didn't see any leaves with this pattern, so I figure that's probably a good sign. Thanks, rose experts! Virginia

It LOOKS (at least to me) like the damage you get when spray runs down to the point of the leaf, and dries off there. We're seeing a lot of similar discoloration here, after several years of drought, but for us, it is then usually accompanied by a white "edging" around the dead areas. That's mineral salts from our cr*ppy water, with no rain to clean out the environment.

Thanks, jerijen- if it's just something cosmetic, it's no big deal- I expect it will grow prettier leaves eventually. None of the 3 tea roses had anything similar going on, so I did wonder. I guess they were in a different area of the nursery or on a different spray regimen or something... Thanks again,
