Need help with identification

This rose grows outside a car dealer's in Uppsala. My husband took several photos of it, late in the evening so it was difficult to get the colour right but the flower I had later was a clear pink. It is a 7 ft bush, very wide, straight thorns on lower branches, none on flowering shoots. The flowers are semi-double, 17 petals, with a wonderful strong scent. The leaves are matte and glaucous. It may not be very old because it was grafted with several wild canina shoots from the ground. A suspicious man came out to talk to my husband and said he used to prune the rose but he probably didn't know that he should remove the wild shoots.

I have posted pictures on a Swedish forum but so far no one has suggested a class or a name.

Hi,
It's a very beautiful rose. The bloom form is soft and graceful.
How wide are the blooms, by the way?
The first thing I try and do when identifying a rose is to figure out what class it belongs to, the foliage of your rose brought Damask genetic influence to mind.
-Does it re-bloom?
-Does it bear hips, and if so are they elongated?

The shading on the petals is significant, the deep rose pink at the base of the petals, lightening to a clear medium pink, to a pale light pink, with whitish pink towards the edge. Not many roses are colored in that way.

Sorry I don't know what it is, and I've begun searching by looking at all the photos of the Damask Perpetuals on helpmefind.com/roses
The next thing I thought of is how cold hardy it would have to be to thrive in Uppsala.

A rose list from a Scandinavian or other northern rose hybridizer might be a good place to search.

It's a beauty, thanks for posting your photo and query,
Luxrosa

It's a lovely rose.

Do you have a close-up photo of the bloom you took home? If you posted multiple photos to the Swedish rose forum, perhaps you could include that link instead of uploading the photos again?

I'm no rose expert, but others here are...

Good luck,
Virginia

If it doesn't repeat, perhaps it's an Alba. I'm not an expert, but when I saw the pic, I first thought of 'Celeste' aka 'Celestial' aka 'Minden Rose.'

...or perhaps 'Belle Amour'...

Someone on the Swedish forum suggested Prairie Dawn and I tend to agree with her after having seen many pictures of it. I don't grow it myself and haven't seen it before so I couldn't guess.

Interesting suggestion. My first (and so far only) thought was Therese Bugnet, but those red canes are quite noticable. I'm not familiar with Prairie Dawn. Remarkably few Canadian roses that aren't from AgCanada make it across the border.
