English Perfume is my recent acquisition. This is the 1st bloom. Exquisite. It is an old Jackson & Perkins rose. Why is this rose not widely available in commerce?

English Perfume in my climate had too much botrytis petal blight. It is very pretty and fragrant, though.

What conditions cause botrytis? I did not find too much information on English Perfume other than Help Me Find.
|
Botrytis germinates in cool weather after a rain. You won't see it much in hot-summer areas. 'Eden' is also highly susceptible.

Botrytis is a very opportunistic fungal disease. It can manifest overnight and then disappear. Best cultural practice is to quickly cut and throw away infected buds and flowers. Nik
