Edmond Proust, a rose that I hadn't heard of until here recently, is really beautiful. Jacques Cartier looks very "heaped up", with the flowers jostling each other for space.
I just visited the Rogue Valley Roses site to research 'Edmond Proust.' (Gorgeous rose, Altorama!) The RVR page describes the rose as medium red and shows a photo of an apricot shaded almost white rose. What the heck?
My 'Jacques/Marchesa' has never clustered like that. Has anyone else's? Altorama, your flowers are very pretty in their self-made bouquet.
Well the pics on HMFlook right---Lets see what Quest Ritson Says - "The charm of this cultivar lies in the individual flowers, because it does not bloom much(he used a different word which would be considered racist so I wont say it-besides that he is WRONG and mine is covered with blooms.. "The edges are palest pink or white, contrasting abruptly with the deep strawberry pink center and flowers carried in clusters from 3 to 12''...wonder what RVR has?
Planted a band of Edmund Proust last spring. it is now about 3'x3'x3'. No BS. about a dozen blooms which are beautiful. I'm bettinforms clusters.g this one is going to be huge. I sure hope so. The overall look of the bush is delicate but it is anything but. Like you and Krista my Marchesa also . Love the fragrance/.
