Roses in Dallas

I am going to visit Dallas, Texas this week and plan to go to the Chambersville Rose Garden while I am there. I don't think much is blooming now, but would like to go anyway.

Is there anything else you recommend seeing while I am there? Thanks for any thoughts, Gean

You may want to check out the test garden in Farmers Branch, lots to see there!

They also have a great bargain area at Chamblees with roses at $2.50 and $5. And there regular priced roses are a reasonable price as well. Have fun and let us know what you end up bringing home! And if your hungry the best bar b q ribs are not far in the town of Kilgore at The Tavern. Have a great week!

ogrose, thanks so much. That's what I couldn't remember that I wanted to see. :)

boncrow, I don't think I'll make it as far as Tyler, but it is a good thought. I've been to Chamblees only once but it is a memorable place for sure. I love bbq too, so thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks again! Gean

I went to the Earthkind trial gardens in Farmer's Branch about a week ago, and many of the older roses had been taken out, and they seem to have started a trial of David Austin roses. There are also quite a few Pioneer roses and Buck roses, and some remaining older Earthkind roses.

This past weekend I went to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, where Mrs. Dudley Cross, Marie Pavie, and Souvenir de la Malmaison were looking surprisingly good, amongst others.

Enjoy your trip!

I'm sorry I read Chambersville and thought it said Chamblees lol.

Thanks for the heads up, mesigh.

I used to live in the area and really like the Ft. Worth botanic gardens. I am glad to hear the roses are doing well there. My daughter now 30 used to splash her feet in the fountains there when she was a baby. Nice memories :)

boncrow, that is funny! I do the same thing, mix things up, I mean.

Thank you, Gean
