| Hi All, I'm new to this forum. I'm a member of the Royal National Rose Society in England and have been a rose enthusiast for many, many years. I live very close to Hidcote Manor and Gardens UK but I have lived for many years in France where Monet's Garden in Giverny, has been my biggest inspiration. It's lovely to have found this website with like minded people to discuss the merits of different roses.
I have recently bought The Generous Gardener but have noticed although this rose produces many blooms they only last a few days. Has anyone else noticed this? |

| Yes, like many Austin roses, it doesn't last long. Nice flower, though, and the plant is disease resistant in many gardens. In my climate it makes a very large shrub or a climber. Keep it deadheaded if you want repeat bloom. My own GG is new this year, but I have watched it for a couple of years in a public place. |

| Same here - doesn't last very long. I would recommend Wollerton Old Hall - different colour but similar shape flowers and they last for ages. They open into nice chalice blooms and stay that way until they drop off as acomplete flower. |

| Thanks michaelg and caldonbeck for that confirmation. I do like Woolerton Old Hall, the shape of bloom is one that I like but I really prefer the pinks. Have you any idea how Wedgewood performs? Do the blooms last any longer than GG? |

| WEdgewood is nice too - not a big plant, nothng like generous gardener for size. How about the alnwick rose? That's a nice pink, wedgewood rose is a good rose too - its flowers last longer than alnwick and GG. |
