. . . So, I thought folks might like seeing this one. 'Gardens Of The World' was only Int. 1999 -- and it's a GREAT rose . . . But I think, now, Angel Gardens may be the only nursery offering it. (And they may have gotten it from me.) It's one of the few HTs I really love -- and I post it here, because it is truly endangered.

She's really lovely- but then, I'm sort of a sucker for that 'stained petal' look... Thanks, Virginia

Lovely rose as always, Jeri. If anyone is looking for this rose, Heirloom also sells it and mine really took off after planting this spring. Usually I disbud all my small bands in their first year, but mine not only put on some substantial growth already this year (not common in the "old" Heirloom) it also put out two huge blooms. Mine have reddened up more on the edges in our heat, but it's definitely a keeper. I wish mine would show more of the contrast in your photo, but she's still a baby and there's time! Cynthia

Cynthia, that's a nice-looking flower for a baby. If she's growing that fast, you might have some more contrast-y blooms in the fall? If so, don't forget to post photos... Fingers crossed, Virginia

I suspect the color is a factor of climate. Though we're having yet another heatwave, now, we are near the coast, and our normal temperatures are moderated by cool sea breezes. So that darkening -- that "fade-to-dark" probably inherited from Tea Rose ancestors -- is slower here. TODAY, though, the bloom I showed is solid red here.
