I find HMF very helpful for some information, but not the mature size of roses, because that can vary so much. Those of you who have a Honorine de Brabant, could you please chime in and describe the size, growth and your experience with this rose bush. Please include information regarding your climate and length of your growing season. Thank you in advance, Lynn

I grew this rose in another garden nearby, although not to maturity, but would venture to guess that it can attain quite a large size. The problem with Honorine in my experience was lots of leaves but not many flowers, and not many flushes of bloom. I've read this same criticism in several books so it must not be just my climate. It's otherwise a lovely rose, but for me a rose needs to bloom quite a bit to earn its keep and the outlay in expensive water. Ingrid

Ingrid_vc, Thank you for the information. I am in absolute agreement that what one gives a rose in water, feeding and labor, should be balanced with the desired performance. Lynn

I'd love to grow this one too but am pretty sure it would not like my climate (I'm not liking it too much either).

I'm in zone 8. Spring can be cold and rainy. Summer is pretty moderate. We can get into the 90's but rarely to 100. My Honorine is 6 X 6. I find that like Ingrid said it isn't covered with blooms. I'm not disappointed with it though. The full growth and the striped blooms with some repeat are plenty for me. I would call it a fairly carefree rose here.

Hmm.... I am on the fence with this one. I don't expect it to bloom like what I have heard of a Belinda's Dream, but I would like some repeat, and a nicely shaped shrub with good foliage when the bush in not pushing out blooms. I have yet to see an image of the entire plant, only the blooms. Lynn

Well I'm not anywhere close to your zone so I really don't know what it could do for you but mine is about 5 feet tall and wide each season here. It's also pretty cane hardy so I don't have to prune it much at all in the spring. It sort of resents it when I do have to cut it back more if it gets some winter damage. For me it usually only blooms a big flush in the spring with just a very few scattered blooms in the fall.

Here, an occasional spotty repeat. A second tier rose. But then, I have about 5 tiers in my personal ranking, so that's not bad. I'm experimenting with different pruning techniques and if this year's efforts work as I hope, I may bump it back up into the first tier. It is very healthy for me, and the roses are beautifully striped, which I very much like. Rosefolly

Desert, I have been waiting until I saw the spring bloom to chime in on this post. I admit that the lack of bloom could be seen as a problem. The flowers are quite lovely, though; and the scent is memorable, if not in the strongest category, like MIP, say. Also, note that my bush is tolerating a fairly shady location and a fair amount of neglect with no signs of blackspot. Personally, I would say a classy rose with some very nice attributes, especially as a cut flower: in a vase, the flowers stay cupped and upright. The photo is from last week, by the way. Larry
