Cornelia, years to maturity

I am trying to decide where to plant my Cornelia. I have read that she blooms fully in spring and fall with small flushes in between. I am in coastal southern calif. and have a location against a wood fence that is full sun during spring and half day sun in the fall (afternoon).

How well does she handle heat?

How about shade?

Mature size?

Yrs. to maturity?

TIA - have to run

She's never been happy here -- but cuttings from my plant made a great show, up in Tehachapi.

I think she wants more water than we give her, and I suspect afternoon shade would make her happier.

In the Sacramento City Cemetery, she's huge and magnificent, growing over an archway, so she can do that.

Thanks Jeri. That's helpful to know.

I'm in a very different zone from you, so my height/spread information is probably a minimum for you in warmer zones. The one thing that might translate directly is that Cornelia doesn't mind shade at all, even in my less intense sun region. I find that she's wider than she is tall, and she likes to put out long flexible canes that I weave around other plants. When she's happy in my zone, she tops out at around 5' high and at least 7' wide, but she doesn't fill in all that width of space for me. This year after our brutal winter, she's barely clearing 3'.

Years to maturity is a little hard to judge in my zone, as the bloom of roses varies so much depending on how much surviving cane there is. I would think that she would be mature in 3-4 years like other roses, but that may vary

Mine grows in the shade, is a sprawler, probaby 8-10 feet wide by about 3 feet tall.
