Virginia GW Fall Rose Swap Update

If you're thinking of attending the Rose Swap at my place this October, this is the message you've been waiting for -- details!

The date is October 21, time not decided yet. Probably early lunch time, like 11:00 or so, since we will have food.

I've been thinking of various ways to handle the actual swapping of the plants themselves. Robert and I were talking about this on Friday, and we came up with some ideas. I know that I will give away more plants than I would hope to receive. There are others who are coming who will be new to their gardens, and they will have nothing yet to share. I have been to a few plant exchanges, and they have all been a bit out of hand. I'd like this to be more civilized.

To take the specifics of this discussion of the planning of this event off this Board, I have started a group on Y**oo. Those of you who have already sent me your email address will be receiving an invitation to join. Everyone is welcome to join us -- the more the merrier. I have set the group to accept new members with approval. This should keep membership limited to only those of us who are truly interested.

Hi, Lila (and anyone else who's interested)

When typing my email address, be sure to put the 'dot' between 'c' and 'hilker'. That's the most common mistake people make with my address.

It would be so much easier if I could just post a link to the yahoo site here, but the GW system considers it advertising -- therefore, it's not allowed. (I guess all those colorful, annoying, animated boxes on my screen aren't really advertising.)

The message above pretty much give you the basics -- Oct 21, 11:00, my place in central Virginia, (directions to follow with invitations in a few weeks), think about what you have to share. It's looking like it will be a very nice gathering. The more, the merrier.

I'm in Hartwood, Virginia, off Route 17 -- just north of Fredericksburg. It's almost exactly two hours from the Va/NC border to my house, via I-95.

Hello Connie, this is Chrisi... sort of strange i happened upon you here. I wish i had known you were doing this. To be honest i didn't know anyone did plant swaps around here... I'm very please to find out someone i know personally organizes them herself.
well i guess since i missed this one, just please let me know if you ever do it again. id be more than interested.
