I purchased this rose from Rogue Valley this spring as 'Rainbow'. They did not have photos but on HMF it is listed as maybe what "Moser Striped Rose" actually is. So I gambled and got it only...... First bud opened deep pink semi double And first real flush (2 buds) and it was deeper more wine colored than the photo below of a several day old faded bloom It is very old rose fragrant, has a few thorns on the older cane but mostly small prickles on the new cans with tiny green ones on the backs of the leaves. The leaves are cushioned looking Any guesses?

No Jeri, but it sure reminds me of a David Austin. Is your Prospero very thorny? This one seems to be taking off fairly quick for a band from late spring? Rogue sells both Prospero and the original William Shakespeare. It started out deeper coloring quartered and then opened to flatter and faded. It has thorns but nothing compared to Munstead Wood or Othello Hmm

It rather reminds me of Sophy's Rose with the small inner petals, and the leaves are similar, but SR to my nose has no fragrance. Ingrid

Yes. Prospero is prickly, but nowhere near the monstrous armature of Othello. Among roses that will grow AND bloom in our area, the combination of that color and that rosette form are not common. The original Wm. Shakespeare produced for us only deformed blooms that were roughly kidney-shaped, ICK ICK ICK. This does remind me more of Prospero.

Yes, I agree. Modern and likely Austin. Which? I'll leave that up to those who grow more than I have. Kim

Rogue does not list Sophy's Rose, so guessing that is not this one. These two blooms are really faded and pink, they started out closer to a wine color. Pretty, nice scent, but not what I ordered
